I just love the fact that my laptop can do so much. I ordered the Lenovo G50 laptop recently and wrote a review after trying my hands on with its every feature. The only thing lacking is a good OS, but that can be easily bought if needed. I use an older Windows version I purchased earlier in this system, and still regret that I should have got Windows 8. Apart from this, it is satisfactory to me in all aspects.
Since I didn't have much to spare, and expected to get the most out of my budget, I went for the promising Lenovo G50, and even settled for the one without Windows 7 or 8 OS. This might be a misgiving on my part, but the rest of the laptop could have been a bit better. Battery backup is much less than claimed, and display quality isn't good enough. I would say it is a decent enough system, but not a performer in prolonged usage.
Too hot for me!
First of all, let me cool down my laptop before I write this review. Lenovo did a great job collecting good parts for this laptop, keeping the price low at the same time, but forgot a basic thing. The dedicated graphics card dissipates too much heat and consumes battery like Garfield eats lasagna. Even when doing basic computing or surfing the web, the graphics card whirrs and annoys. I would have made peace with this fact if it offered a better gaming experience, but since there is no decent enough screen to display the rendered high-quality graphics it produces, that would be a dream.
Ergonomics isn't great either, the keyboard is a bit uncomfortable and track pad tries to play with you. If you are looking for a good option with dedicated graphics card and decent specs, this is the laptop for you. But sorry, this isn't for me, someone please exchange with me! I would like to do more, with longer battery backup and if you ask for my verdict, I would say it would have been better off without the dedicated graphics.
A decent enough system at this price range is too tough to find as the market is flooded with options at 30k. But no one offers A8, and that was the deciding factor that made me buy this laptop. I am a fan of AMD processors and did a really crazy configuration with my desktop. But, for a laptop, I wanted something that would get along without much hassle. I was pretty excited to get a Lenovo product and the Lenovo G50 was my final choice. It's got AMD A8 processor, 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM and with 2 GB dedicated graphics, it’s a second heaven for me. I can play massive multiplayer online games anytime I want, and enjoy long hours of movies on my work trips.
The graphics performance is great and computing speed matches most performance systems, although it dissipates a large amount of heat when crushing on resources. In this price range, this laptop is a steal. I would say it solves every purpose, whether you are a student, working person or a home-maker, it is the bare minimum everyone can afford and everyone needs.
